Karl Rosengrant founded the company in 1960. His wife Joyce, daughter Betsy and son Dwain all have helped to build the business. Betsy apprenticed with her father in her teens, learning the job literally from the ground up. In 1997, Betsy began five years of working side-by-side with her father, until they both agreed she was ready to step into Karl's shoes and run the company.
In 2002, Betsy Rosengrant-Stein purchased the business and became president of K. D. Rosengrant. She lays claim to being the only woman owned and operated building and remodeling business in York County. Betsy's trail blazing has caught the attention of the press on more than one occasion; she was featured in Builder/Architect magazine in May 2003, as well as in other publications. Betsy completed a five-year enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard, receiving numerous awards for achievement, marksmanship, and humanitarian service, and most recently was became a Certified Graduate Remodelor.
John Stein met Betsy during their Coast Guard service. John and Betsy married in 1995 and live in York with their daughter Ashley. In 2004, John left a high-powered position with York County Control to offer his organizational skills and customer service expertise to the K. D. Rosengrant team.
The family has an impressive record of service to their industry--and to the greater York community.
Karl Rosengrant served the York County Builders Association (YCBA) in 1986 as president and was a long-time member of the YCBA Board of Directors.
Betsy Rosengrant-Stein became the first woman chairperson of the Remodelors a Council for YCBA. Betsy serves on the YCBA Board of Directors--and has her sights set on becoming the president of YCBA. She would become the first woman to do so, and the father/daughter presidency would also be a first for YCBA.
